Women’s Health Q & A

What does women's health encompass?

Women's health is a multifaceted and interdisciplinary field that addresses the unique biological, social, and cultural factors that impact women's health and well-being. It emphasizes the importance of comprehensive, patient-centered care that considers women's individual needs, preferences, and experiences throughout their lifespans.

Reproductive system health, gynecological health, sexual and reproductive rights, and hormonal health are some of the key areas women's health focuses on. RescueMD also helps women manage chronic conditions and emphasizes preventive care measures to promote overall health and well-being.

Some conditions that women's healthcare can address include:

  • Abnormal menstrual bleeding
  • Reproductive and breast cancers
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Yeast infections
  • Incontinence
  • Hormone imbalance
  • Uterine fibroids
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
  • Osteoporosis

The team at RescueMD has specialized training in women's health and can tailor treatment to meet the specific needs of women at all stages of life.

Which women's health services are available?

In addition to the treatment of women's health conditions, Victory Medical Clinic offers the following services:

  • Well-woman checkups
  • Sexually transmitted disease (STD) screening
  • HPV vaccinations
  • Contraceptive counseling
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Hormone therapy

Weight loss programs, as well as lifestyle and nutritional counseling at RescueMD, can also be tailored to meet the specific needs of women.

How often should I have a well-woman exam?

The expert providers at RescueMD recommend that women over the age of 18 and sexually active teens have a well-woman exam every year.

A well-woman checkup allows your provider to monitor the health of your reproductive system. It's also an excellent time to ask questions and discuss any new symptoms you may be experiencing or any other concerns you may have, such as birth control or STDs.

A yearly well-woman exam typically includes a pelvic exam and a breast exam. A Pap smear is a routine screening for cervical cancer.

Healthy women should have a Pap smear during their well-woman visit every 2-3 years, but if you've recently had an abnormal Pap smear, your provider may recommend that you return sooner for a follow-up Pap test.

Depending on your health history and personal concerns, your well-woman visit may also include STD screenings or additional health screenings.

Here at RescueMD, we offer women's health services and gynecological services to patients in Allen, Dallas, Frisco, Plano, McKinney, and surrounding areas.
